Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

While researching recipes for blackberry ice cream, I came across the great blog, Dragon's Kitchen. I love the beautiful photos, creativity, and wit and quickly bookmarked it as a favorite.

One of the recipes I found here was Bacon Cheeseburger pizza. Her recipe used the Artisian Bread in Five Minutes recipe for pizza dough. I couldn't find this recipe online and I'm still on the hold list for this super-popular book at library so I set off to find something online. I came across Mitch's Basic Pizza Dough and was on my way to ooey, gooey, cheeseburger pizza.

The recipe of the pizza dough was easy and came out pretty well. I plan on using this recipe again but will let it rise more and work it less. I also will divide it into two pieces and freeze one for later because we like a thinner crust. The hamburger and bacon on the pizza were fantastic! I cooked the bacon until almost done before putting it on the pizza because I like crispy bacon. If I had more time, I would have caramelized some onions per Dragon's recipe to provide a little sweetness and another texture to the pizza.

This was delicious and with a few tweaks, it will be a phenomenal weeknight meal. Let me know what you think!

  2. Hi Candace!

I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I'm Joy (of Hot Oven, Warm Heart) and I'm also one of the "newbie" SMS members. So far the experience has been wonderful, and it's been such a treat getting to know many of the other bakers. I'm glad we'll be baking together each week, and I hope we can stay in touch and talk after Sunday postings!

Your pizza looks delicious... homemade pizzas are just so satisfying, don't you think? I can't wait to start reading your posts for SMS, and I'd love for you to stop by my site and say a quick hi, if you have a chance!

Hope you're doing well, and have a wonderful weekend :) Hope to hear from you soon!
