Baked Sunday Mornings - Baked Cheese Grits
I'm a relative newbie when it comes to eating grits but I'm loving them. Especially when they are full of cheese like these Baked Cheese Grits from Baked Explorations.
I used smoked gouda instead of cheddar because that's what I had and let me tell you, they were fabulous. I loved the smokey flavor it added. The grits themselves were creamy and delicious. These would be the perfect bedding for a pile of grilled shrimp. Or alongside a plate full of eggs and bacon for a traditional Southern breakfast.
You can find the recipe at Baked Sunday Mornings.

We're having shrimp for thanksgiving and plan on having cheese grits alongside it. I love grits--they're a great vehicle for butter and cheese!
ReplyDeleteI also just started to love grits! My favorite is to put an egg and crumbled bacon on top. These look delicious =)
ReplyDeleteI love that you used a cast iron pan. I think that would make them taste even better. I have a few of these pans but never seem to have much luck using them. (user issue) Smoked cheese does sound lovely with these.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful grits! I love smoked gouda, great idea for next time! :)
ReplyDeleteThey look so cheesy and delicious. I love the idea of using a smoky cheese. I was planning on eating mine with eggs, but I keep seeing so many good pairing ideas.
ReplyDeleteSmoked gouda sounds like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love your cast iron pan..and I love the idea of smoked gouda.
ReplyDeleteDitto all these creative bakers-- I was thinking of different cheeses for next time, and smoked gouda came to mind. Good to know it was delicious as it sounds! :) Loved the look of the skillet too!
ReplyDeleteI'll be the smoked Gouda was great. I have a feeling we could get very creative with these. We really enjoyed them, too!
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Thanksgiving!
